Rumored for some time now, the purchase of Dropcam is complete--Google's Nest just bought Dropcam for $555M, a tidy sum for a company only five years old.
Nest has the much-lauded Nest Thermostat & smoke alarm (though I personally have little desire/use for these). Dropcam's product line includes the Dropcam HD & Pro cameras, and the upcoming Dropcam Tabs.
I continue to recommend Dropcam's cameras with little pause, and hope this acquisition serves to strengthen Dropcam even further (even if it turns into Nestcam!).
